Mission Moments

December 2015

As the holidays draw near, I thought I would write about some of the things I am thankful for.  The usual list came to mind - my parents, siblings, grandmother, friends, health, job at COA, and most of all, my two beautiful children!  I’m sure when you think of things you’re thankful for some of those same things come to mind.

I came across another list of things to be thankful for that I wanted to share.  Some are sincere, some are humorous and some are based on things we tend to complain about!

August 2015

Many county residents know the vast array of services provided by the Commission on Aging.  County residents know that our mission is to offer services that promote independence, provide volunteer opportunities and present a positive image of aging.

A little known service that the agency provides is that of mentor.  Each August many Central Michigan University students from numerous disciplines work with the agency staff to put a practical understanding on their educational experience.  Students may be involved with the Case Management Programs, Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs, the Nutrition Programs and the Volunteer Programs.

April 2015

Volunteers are very special people. They give of themselves willingly expecting very little in return. They are most happy helping anyone in need. Commission on Aging Volunteers are among the most outstanding individuals I’ve ever met.
