What is 4-H?

4-H is an educational program for youth ages 5-19.  Started in 1908 by the United States Department of Agriculture, 4-H can now be found in over 80 countries all over the world and in every Michigan county.

What kinds of activities do 4-H members participate in?

Fair Projects: Contrary to popular belief, 4-H is not just for "farm kids".  Isabella County 4-H Clubs include rural and urban youth who participate in project areas such as livestock, arts and crafts, foods and nutrition, community service, leadership, photography, shooting sports, crops, aerospace, forestry, sewing, modeling, drama, computers and more!!

Development Workshops: Many Isabella County 4-H members also choose to participate in workshops offered at Kettunen Center and Kellogg Biological Station.  These workshops include leadership skills development, visual arts, veterinary science, outdoor education, and much more.  Isabella County 4-H Program Council covers the costs of attending these workshops so all Isabella County 4-H members are able to participate and broaden their experience and knowledge.

Summer Camp: Cloverbud Camp is a day camp for 5-8 year old members to learn about the outdoors and get a taste of the camping experience.  Isabella County 4-H Camp is a three-day, overnight camping experience in activities such as swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, arts & crafts, sports and campfire songs.  Camps are held at Coldwater Lake 4-H Camp.
