Isabella County Equalization Department
The Equalization Department, a mandated office, was established "…to survey assessments and assist the Board of Commissioner in the matter of equalization of assessments…"(MCL 211.34(3)).
The local Assessor is responsible for the equity between individual parcels. The Equalization Department is responsible for ensuring that each classification within each local assessing unit is being assessed at the statutorily set limits of 49% to 50 % of their True Cash Value.
The Equalization Department conducts an annual study of the assessing levels for each classification of property in each assessing unit to determine if any adjustments are required.
