Invasive Species
Asian
Longhorned Beetle
The Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) is an invasive species that is a large
threat to the hardwood trees in the United States, devastating hardwoods in
parts of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Illinois and now it looks
as though Michigan is a possible target.
Emerald
Ash Borer
The Emerald Ash Borer is an established invasive species that has devastated
the ash tree population throughout Michigan, the Midwest, parts of the
northeast, and up into Canada.
Autumn
Olive
Autumn Olive is an invasive, rapid-growing shrub that establishes itself in
disturbed areas, along roadsides, in pastures, fields, and sparse woodland
areas.
Purple
Loosestrife
Purple Loosestrife is a beautiful, exotic plant that has spread over the
entire United States, except for Alaska and Florida, and into all Canadian
provinces.

Volunteers Needed:
Volunteers are always needed for trail building, park projects, Chippewa River clean up and other special community events.

The Isabella County Parks and Recreation Commission is committed to the enhancement of its 1004.5 acres in parks and properties.
It is the desire of the Commission to provide quality recreational
facilities while incorporating the wise use of its lands. Some of the most
natural areas found in Isabella County.
