The "Tour de Trail" is hosted by Isabella County Parks and Recreation Commission and the City of Clare Parks and Recreation.

It's a day of FREE fun on the Pere Marquette Rail-Trail.

Bike, walk, run, or skate the 4.8 miles of paved rail-trail from the Loomis Trailhead in Loomis to Clare and back (approximately 10 miles).  The event starts around 11:00 am with a drawing for bikes, bike accessories and gift certificates.  After the give-aways you are on your own to enjoy the trail at your own pace.  Lunch is on your own in Clare - either bring a picnic lunch or enjoy one of the many restaurants in Clare.  Click here for a Tour de Trail Flyer.

Our 2008 sponsors are:  Isabella Bank, The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, Central Michigan Community Hospital, Ric's Food Center, and Image Quest of Clare.  Thanks to all of them!!!

The Pere Marquette Rail-Trail follows the Midland to Clare route of the old Flint and Pere Marquette Railroad.  This railroad once moved timber to the sawmills and supplies to the thriving logging industry that existed during the last century and before.  This Trail is one of Michigan's best known, offering a well maintained, hard surface for walking, jogging, biking, in-line skating...just about any mode of non-motorized transportation.  It's a traffic-free, handicap accessible, safe and convenient park for participants of all ages!  Parking areas, restrooms, and other facilities are well situated along its route.

Rail-Trail Etiquette

  • Keep right except to pass
  • Alert others when passing by using voice or bell
  • Yield to slower traffic
  • Always travel at safe speeds
  • Don't block the trail
  • Dogs must be on a leash
  • Please help keep the trail clean
