Missing Person (Vulnerable Adult) - February 16, 2013

UPDATE - Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 5:55 a.m.

Juan Romero III has been located. The Sheriff’s Department located him at his mother’s residence in Chippewa Township this morning at 5:55 am. Mr. Romero stated he had been at his mother’s residence for a couple of days. He is currently being held at the Isabella County Jail on an arrest warrant for assault. The assault occurred on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013. The missing person call was reported later that evening at 11:00 p.m.

UPDATE - Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 4:00 p.m.

Juan Romero III still has not been located. The Sheriff’s Department coordinated searches by the Michigan State Police Helicopter, Civil Air Patrol, Isabella County Community Emergency Response Team, Midland Search and Rescue Team and Mid-Michigan Working Dog K-9 Units. Numerous leads were phoned in and followed-up on. We will be discontinuing the searches at dark this evening.

Many thanks to the above-mentioned units, as well as the Michigan State Police, DNR, Tribal Police, Shepherd Police, Isabella County Central Dispatch, Isabella County Emergency Management Office, Dominoes Pizza (provided pizzas for searchers) and Ric’s Food Center (provided soft drinks for searchers).

JuanRomeroIII smJuan Romero III, Native American male, 19 years old, 5’11”, 280 pounds, long black hair (usually in a ponytail), has a tattoo of “Big Brother” on the left side of his neck and another one with “Juan” and the number “3” below it on his right forearm. He was last seen wearing a royal blue t-shirt, dark gray zip up hoodie, black sweatpants and white and black shoes. He may have a MP3 player with gold headphones with him.

Mr. Romero is a vulnerable adult that is missing from his home. He suffers from several mental disorders and is not capable of taking care of himself. He resides at 9080 E. Pleasant Valley Rd., Shepherd, MI. He does not drive. He was discovered missing around 11:00 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013.

He was involved in an assault on one of the workers in the group home yesterday and can be violent. He has not taken his medications since the morning hours on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013. Mr. Romero in not familiar with the area.
