Have you ever heard someone use the term “murf?” ‘Murf’ or MRF stands for Material Recovery Facility. Isabella County operates a MRF along side its recycling center. At our site we are able to both collect material and process and market it for recycling. The next time you hear someone say ‘murf’ you’ll know that they are headed to our Recycling Center!

Tours
Want to know what happens at the MRF? Our Material Recovery Facility houses two sorting lines and a baler that work together to prepare your materials for recycling. On a tour you’ll learn about drop-off recycling, community environmental programs, the sorting and baling processes, and the facility’s 16 year history.

Bring your classroom or community group for an engaging and informative tour that will communicate the importance of environmental stewardship. Don’t miss the chance to see what your local community is doing to successfully reduce waste and protect natural resources. Call us for more information on scheduling tours.

Presentations and Educational Sessions
Recycling Center staff is available to present recycling and environmental related topics to your class or community group. We realize the importance of educating our community on available waste reduction and resource recovery options. The cornerstone of our mission is to “think globally and act locally.” We want to work together to provide the resources you need to become a steward to the environment. Please call us for more information on topics and availability.
