Press Release - Fatal one-car rollover traffic crash - May 18, 2013
On Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 5:31 a.m. Isabella County Sheriff’s Department responded to a one-car rollover traffic crash at 5:31 a.m. this morning on E. Weidman Rd. near N. Lincoln Rd. A 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Grace Sudinski was traveling westbound on E. Weidman Rd. when it ran off the right side of the roadway, then crossed the road and ran off the left side of the roadway. The car rolled over 1-1/2 times and ended up landing on the roof. The passenger, Tara Anne Felisky-Syler was ejected from the car and ended up getting pinned underneath it. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident occurred on E. Weidman Rd., approximately ¼ mile east of N. Lincoln Rd., Isabella Township, Isabella County, Michigan. The driver Grace Sudinski was transported to McLaren-Central Michigan by MMR and then transferred to Saginaw St. Mary’s for non-life threatening injuries. The passenger Tara Anne Felisky-Syler, 18 years old was from Weidman, Michigan.
The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by CMU Police, Tribal Police, Isabella Northeast Fire Department and MMR.
The accident remains under investigation by the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department.
Press Release - Operating while intoxicated & forcibly breaking in an occupied residence - May 18, 2013
On Saturday, May 18 at approximately 4:37 a.m. an accident occurred on Nottawa Rd., just north of Vernon Rd., Gilmore Township, in Isabella County, Michigan.
The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call where the owner of a home had reported that her residence had just been broken into by an unknown male and that he was currently inside the home. The owner of the residence advised Central Dispatch that she locked herself in a bedroom along with her teenage daughter and niece.
As deputies approached the home, they noticed a car in the ditch at Nottawa and Vernon Roads. The airbags had gone off, but there was no one inside the vehicle. Deputies continued to the residence and observed a male curled up on the floor inside the home. Deputies entered the home and placed the individual in handcuffs.
The individual had gained entrance into the home by kicking a door in. After being read his Miranda Rights, the individual told deputies that he was the individual that had been driving the car they had found in the ditch near the residence.
Alcohol was a factor in the accident. The subject was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and Burglary-Forced Entry.
Press Release - Stolen property Breaking and Entering - May 3, 2013
Victim was awakened by hearing someone in their house. Once the suspect heard the home owner, the suspect fled the home running into the woods. A description of the suspect was given to dispatch and officers apprehended the suspect approximately 1/2 mile from the victims home. The suspect had a stolen item from the home on his person at that time.
Bond has been set, Subject’s charges are:
- 1 Count Home Invasion 1st
- 1 Count Home Invasion 2nd
- 1 Count of Weapons/Firearms Larceny
- 2 Count Felony Firearm
- 1 Count Firearms/Receive and Conceal
- Bond has been set at $60,000.00
