The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department road patrol covers 576 square miles, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. They investigate vehicle crashes, vehicle thefts, damage to vehicles, missing persons, fugitive arrests, run-aways, deaths, homicides, robberies, assaults, criminal sexual conduct, insurance fraud and driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Along with Road Patrol duties, our deputies are also assigned to specialized units such as the Dive Team, Emergency Services Team and Marine Patrol. They may also be assigned to the Youth Services Unit, BAYANET, 416 Secondary Road Patrol, Traffic Team or Criminal Transports. Supervisors
Transport Corrections Officer Robert Leosh and Deputy Gordon Williams transport inmates back and forth between Isabella County Correctional Facility, Livonia and Westland Police Departments five days a week. 416 Road Patrol The 416 Grant is a statewide grant offered to all Michigan Sheriff’s Departments through Public Act 416 of 1978. In Isabella County, it funds 1½ full- time positions. The 416 position is for patrol of all roads in Isabella County except M-20, US-127 and US-10. The Sheriff’s Department currently has two deputies in the 416 position, with the state paying for 1½ of the positions and the county paying for the other half. When a shift is short handed the 416 deputy may handle complaints, however, they are primarily a traffic enforcement car.
