10th Annual Mid Michigan Civil War Muster

CivilWar20141The American Civil War is coming to Isabella County! Union and Confederate Civil War Reenactors from across the state will meet on September 20 and 21, 2014 in the 10th Annual Mid Michigan Civil War Muster at Isabella County's Deerfield Nature Park, 2425 W. Remus Road. The park is located about 6 miles west of Mt. Pleasant on M-20.

Visitors to Deerfield Nature Park will witness a recreation of our nation's past during one of its most  important and troublesome times. A nominal $6 per vehicle entry fee will allow spectators to be transported back to the time period of 1864. Union and Confederate infantry and artillery camps will be filled with activities. Authentically dressed civilians of the 1860 era will also be participating in the scenes.

7th Annual Art From Our Parks

ArtPark1Join us Saturday, September 27th.
This event hosted by Isabella County Parks and Recreation, Art Reach of Mid-Michigan and sponsored by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs will take place from noon until 4pm at Deerfield Nature Park.

Last year nearly 200 members of our community took part in this event! Art from Our Parks gives local artists the opportunity to share their talents and inspire the community. Park inspired art will be displayed, poetry readings, live music, trail walk, bonfire, chili and refreshments. Participants may stop by the Creation Station and take a swing at art while painting an Ash bat promote Emerald Ash Bore  Awareness throughout Isabella County, among other crafty creations!

Isabella County is located in the heart of Central Lower Michigan.

On February 11, 1859 the state legislature organized Isabella County and a commission was appointed by the governor to establish the county seat at Isabella Centre. In 1860 voters approved the transfer of the county seat to Mount Pleasant.  ...more info
