Isabella County Sheriffs Department is investigating a fatal traffic crash

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department responded to a fatal traffic crash this morning at 7:50 am.  The crash occurred on Leaton Rd. at Broomfield Rd. (Chippewa Township).  A 2002 Mercury Villager driven by Mark Anthony Sura, 49 years old from Shepherd, MI was traveling south on Leaton Rd., ran a stop sign and ended up being struck on the driver’s side door by a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Robert Ivan Gates, 43 years old from Mt. Pleasant, MI.  Robert Gates was traveling west on Broomfield Rd. at the time of the crash.

Mark Anthony Sura was pronounced dead at the scene.  Robert Gates was transported to McLaren Central Michigan by Mobile Medical Response (MMR).  His injuries were not life-threatening.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Assisting by: The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Tribal PD, Michigan State Police, Tribal Fire Department and Mobile Medical Response (MMR).

The accident remains under investigation by the Isabella County Sheriff's Departtment.

passportbookThe Register of Deeds Office will have extended hours during the holiday season to accept passport applications.

For 6 weeks, on Wednesdays only by appointment, November 5th through December 10th, the Register of Deeds Office in the Isabella County building will be open for appointments from 4PM until 6PM.  Please call to make an appointment, (989) 317-4089.

We always accept walk-in passport applications daily Monday through Friday from 8AM to 4PM.
