The Veterans Affairs Committee functions under PA 192 of 1953. PA 192 consolidated the soldier’s relief commission to create a county department of Veterans Affairs.
The Veterans Affairs Committee is responsible for the following:
- Overseeing the county VA office to ensure that the needs of Isabella County veterans are being met.
- Determine application eligibility for Soldier’s Relief and the County Burial Fund.
- Ensure the County Veteran Service Fund grant program is best utilized to aid with increased efficiency of VA benefits as well as community outreach.
Veterans Affairs Committee meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers
