The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department has spoken to the daughter of Cecil E. O’Donnell (the second listed individual below) who lives in the Royal Oak area and she stated she was just at the cemetery and her father’s grave marker was still in place. The recovered grave marker was a duplicate of the one currently at the gravesite.
We are still working on leads with regard to Frank A. Tardiff’s grave marker.
The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department has taken possession of two grave markers that were located in the 5000 block of E. Valley Rd., Union Township. The grave markers were found by an individual that lives in the area. It is currently unknown where the grave markers were taken from.
The markers are for:
Cecil E. O’Donnell, 1907-1962
Frank A. Tardiff, 1878-1950

Sheriff, Isabella County
Isabella County's Sheriff Department is primarily responsible for three duties: the operation of the jail, service of court papers and to provide around the clock protection to detect and deter crime. The department also provides back-up assistance to other area agencies. The position of Sheriff or (“Reeve of the Shire") began in England and was first established in the year 992 AD, therefore it is the oldest law enforcement agency in the world.
