Commission on Aging – 2200 S. Lincoln Rd. Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858 – Rooms A & B
10:30-11:45– Christi Demitz, MSU Extension presentation: Taking Care of You, Identifying and Reducing Personal Stress, Communicating Feelings, Needs, and Concerns.
Caregivers often overlook the importance of caring for themselves, as they are caring for a loved one. This interactive session will help you see that you are not alone in the challenges of being a caregiver. We will practice stress reduction through deep breathing, problem-solving, and positive self-talk. Good communication is a powerful caregiving tool, and this session will also cover tools to best express yourself, so your wishes are known.
12:45-2:00pm Learning From Our Emotions and Mastering Caregiver Decisions
Caregiving brings up many difficult emotions, such as anger and guilt. This interactive session will cover tools for dealing with and learning from difficult emotions. We will discuss how attitudes affect our approach to self-care and decision making. We will discuss boundaries and the difference between assertiveness and aggression, and how assertiveness can benefit us when caregiving.

(Beef with Sweet Peppers, Brown Rice, a Dinner Roll Corn and Lima Beans)
Commission on Aging welcomes all caregivers. This event will be FREE of charge. Please RSVP by April 28th.
