Supported by Isabella County Central Dispatch and funded by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, Isabella County has launched a PAD+ (Public Access Defibrillator+) Program in partnership with Avive Solutions.

Isabella County’s PAD+ Program aims to improve survival rates from cardiac arrest in the community by:

  • Integrating Avive’s AED technology with Isabella County’s 911 system
  • Increasing bystander intervention
  • Decreasing time-to-defibrillation
  • Sharing valuable cardiac arrest data with the healthcare providers when they need it

What is Sudden Cardiac Arrest?

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a time-sensitive medical emergency that occurs when the heart unexpectedly stops beating and pumping blood effectively throughout the body. While high-quality CPR buys time, the only way to restore a heart beat and save a person’s life is with a shock from an AED, or Automated External Defibrillator.

Every year in the United States, there are more than 356,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) cases reported. The national survival rate is only ~10%, and has remained unchanged for the past two decades. Alarmingly, almost 40% of those incidents were witnessed by individuals who lacked access to an essential, lifesaving AED device.

Why Avive?

Avive’s state of the art Avive Connect AED has the potential to revolutionize the accessibility and availability of AEDs through integrating with local 911 systems, and Isabella County is on the forefront of this initiative.

Isabella County’s PAD+ Program leverages the first-of-its-kind connectivity capabilities of the Avive Connect AED to deliver AEDs to the cardiac arrest patients who need them–faster.

Isabella County’s Central Dispatch 911 Telecommunicators will soon be able to alert and dispatch all Avive AEDs within a one mile radius of suspected cardiac arrest emergencies with the hope of delivering a community placed AED to the emergency more quickly–ahead of emergency medical services (EMS).
