Notice of Public Hearing – Isabella County Planning Commission
The Isabella County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at a special meeting on May 29, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Isabella County Commission on Aging Building located at 2200 S. Lincoln Rd, Mount Pleasant, Michigan 48858. The purpose of the meeting is to consider a request for a special land use permit by DTE Electric Company (“DTE”) to construct and operate a proposed Solar Farm in Isabella Township referred to as “Mission Road Solar Park” (“Project”) under the Isabella County Zoning Ordinance. The proposed Project consists of, among other improvements, solar array equipment, an electrical collection system, fencing, landscape buffers, internal access roads, underground amenities, and other ancillary improvements. The Planning Commission will also review site plan materials submitted by DTE at the meeting as part of a site plan review (as required for a special land use permit) and conduct any other business that comes before the Commission.

Further, please note this proposed Project includes visible improvements (e.g. solar array equipment) and certain improvements (underground cables, etc.) that may not be visible from notice area locations. To assist with determining potential visual impacts from a particular location, please view a map (prepared by DTE) of proposed Project improvement locations included with mailing notices.
Written comments on the proposed Project will be received by the Community Development Department by mail to 200 N. Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858 (ATTN: Community Development Department) and by e-mail to: rjohnson@isabellacounty.org (please address to Isabella County Planning Commission). Hand delivered comments or requests to review application materials in person will be received by calling (989) 317-4061 to schedule an appointment. Individuals may also address the Planning Commission during the public hearing to comment on the special land use permit request and the proposed Project. Upon request, Isabella County will provide auxiliary aids or services to individuals with disabilities. Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services who are planning to attend the public hearing should notify the County at (989) 317-4061 or utilize the Michigan Relay Service (7-1-1; T-D-D) at least two days in advance of the meeting.
