ELECTED OFFICIAL APPOINTMENT COMMISSION
TREASURER APPOINTMENT

The Isabella County Appointment Committee which consists of Probate Judge Stuart Black, Prosecuting Attorney Mark Kowalczyk and County Clerk Minde B. Lux have made a decision on the appointment for the Isabella County Treasurer position.  7 letters of interest were received for the opening.  The committee conducted interviews on 4 of the candidates that met the criteria for the position.  These interviews were posted accordingly with the Open Meetings Act and open to the general public on June 25th, 2026 at the Commission on Aging at 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  On June 29th, 2026 the committee met at the Isabella County Trial Court Law Library and it was posted accordingly with the Open Meetings Act and open to the general public to deliberate a decision.  The committee has decided to appoint Zachary King of Mt. Pleasant at this said meeting.  Mr. King will start the new position on August 1st, 2026.  The current Treasurer, Kathleen Schafer will retire effective July31st, 2026.
